    Spradley Saluted
    Moriarty High senior Jennelle Spradley was honored as the female State Farm Insurance Albuquerque-area Prep Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 31 through Feb. 4.
    Spradley, a 5-foot 101/2-inch all-state post, scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Pintos to a 44-38 victory over District 4-4A foe Albuquerque Academy on Feb. 4.

    Event Planned
    The New Mexico Women's Scholastic Style Wrestling State Championships will be held at Albuquerque High School on Sunday.
    The meet will have four female age divisions: kindergarten-5th grade, 6th-8th, 9th-12th and open.
    Weigh-in is at 8 a.m. Competition and a clinic start at 10 a.m.
    USA Wrestling cardholders compete and can attend the clinic for free.
    For those without a card, the fee is $50. The cost includes the card.

    Maverick Posts
    2-0 Soccer Win
    The Classic Maverick under-14 girls soccer club defeated a combined Albuquerque United Football Club U13/U14 squad 2-0 in a scrimmage at Moriarty High's pitch Saturday.
    The Maverick, primarily made up of East Mountains and Estancia Valley residents, got its first goal on a penalty kick by Melanie Armijo. Kathleen Nixon got the other score in the second half.
    Classic goalkeepers Jazmynn Carriaga and Jessica Stansen were key factors in the shutout.
    After lunch, the Maverick lost some of its players to other offseason commitments. The team fell 3-1 to AUFC in the second game.
    Christine Chamas got the sole Classic goal in the final contest.
    Maverick coach Craig Nixon said Savannah Baros and Katarina Garcia, who lives in the East Mountains, play for United. Nixon said Baros, along with Maverick's Armijo and Kendra Nixon, are looking forward to playing for the Pintos this autumn.
    Nixon said his girls are gearing up for the Classic Football Club Spring Cup, to be held Feb. 26-27 at the Farmers Insurance Soccer Complex at Santa Ana Pueblo near Bernalillo.
    Moriarty Schools
    Offer Reward
    Moriarty Municipal Schools continues to offer a $500 reward for information leading directly to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the theft of athletic uniforms and equipment from the Moriarty High gymnasium over the winter break, according to a news release from the Pintos' athletic office.
    Anyone with information should contact Moriarty athletic director Michael Ortiz at 832-5947 or 269-9918.
