Thrift Store Gives Thanks for Space
WALKIN N CIRCLES RANCH Inc., a nonprofit New Mexico horse rescue dedicated to improving life for rescued, abandoned and older horses, has opened its thrift store in the old Radio Shack building on Old Route 66 off N.M. 344. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Our special thanks and appreciation go to one of Edgewood's local businesses, Liberty Development Group LLC, Andrew Sommerville, for providing the space to open our thrift store, all of which proceeds go directly to feeding and caring for our rescued equines. Without the support of Liberty Development Group this venture would not have been possible, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to Andrew and the company for their support and encouragement.

       Neighbors Helped Save Horses' Lives
THIS LETTER IS TO THANK THE many folks in the Edgewood and surrounding area community for the help, kindness and caring we experienced during our first few days in our new home.
Soon after we arrived, four of our horses managed to break through several fences and become lost in the South Mountain area. We were naturally frantic trying to find our missing, scared and likely injured horses. We soon found out just how wonderful our neighbors and the Edgewood community are.
Three of our horses miraculously ended up close to the Walkin N Circles Ranch horse rescue facility. The horses were seriously injured. Without regard to whose horses these were, the Walkin N Circles Ranch folks took them in, cleaned them up and called for veterinary help. Once they were safe and after veterinary care, we knew they would recover.
The fourth horse, a young filly, was still lost. We put up signs asking for help in finding her. The local horse network went to work searching. We thank all of the High Desert Riders and those associated with Las Posadas horse training and boarding facility who helped look for this precious filly. We don't know who all of you are, but please know that we are grateful. Special thanks go to Roger Holden, Ralph Hill, Jessica Gallagher, David and Marty King, Deb Matthew and Jan Buckly for putting out the word and helping with the search.
We thank David King, Jim Rea and Ken Brown, who finally located our injured filly three days later. Walkin N Circles once again responded by bringing a horse trailer and taking our filly to their facility for care.
Special thanks, also, to Dr. Stacey Thompson of Western Trails Veterinary Hospital for her prompt, professional and loving treatment of all our horses. She has all our horses well on the way to recovery.
We end this letter with another big thank-you to all the folks who helped and gave us words of concern and encouragement, from the school bus driver, Victoria, to all the folks at Walkin N Circles, including owners, staff and volunteers. It was all of you who helped make an emotionally devastating situation bearable and showed us we'd made the right choice in joining your community. You are our models for being good citizens.
