    Thank You In
    This Time of Loss
To The Friends of Tom Klapper:
We would like to thank all those who knew Tom, for the many prayers, thoughts and support given our family. He would have been so proud and pleased to know how much he was thought of and how much he will be missed. As a simple Christian Tom had no idea how much he affected those he encountered in his life. All the comments about him in our time of grief made us very proud of him and we thank you for making him a friend and part of your community and church family.

    Edgewood Mayor
    Renews Recreation
When the Town of Edgewood was first incorporated, Mayor (Larry) Keaty appointed, and the Town Council approved, a park and recreation committee to determine and implement a plan to create activities and facilities for our community. A very proactive, community-minded group started the summer day camp, the wind festival, concerts with nature, the Run, Rally and Rock community festival celebrating the anniversary of the town's incorporation.
Then with the help of Councilor (Chuck) Ring and Mayor (Howard) Calkins we started the Bluegrass Music Festival. This was the beginning of a great community builder as this was all positive. During this same time lawsuits and divisive attitudes prevailed. Instead of the tainted reputation in our region acquired as a divided lawsuit-happy group, we established a regional fun and positive event that the Town of Edgewood could be and is now proud of. People from all over the country are now coming to Edgewood to have fun and to spend some money with our local businesses!
Our park and recreation committee group was then dismissed by the last mayor and the energy went away to create recreation needs for our town. After Mayor Calkins won the high card draw, we see a new friendlier attitude building in our government and in our community. A new parks and recreation group was appointed and the energy is coming back! The newly appointed Park and Recreation Director Roger Holden has created much excitement and leadership for the possibilities for open space, trails, events, soccer fields, baseball fields and many other activities.
I have been a part of our community for over 40 years and love to see our community recreation needs be met with enthusiasm, vision, and wisdom. The current parks and recreation committee group has this and has great leadership from our director.
Please, encourage everyone in our community to support this effort in any way we can. I love Edgewood!

    Stance on Sewer
Mr. Baillio, in his recent letter, forgot to mention several important facts about the original sewer proposal for Edgewood. First, he neglected to mention that the open pond design favored by my opponents was opposed by the citizens of Edgewood. Second, the many powered lift stations called for in the original design would have proved to be operational and maintenance nightmares. Third, the design was technically unsound and it is unlikely that the State would have approved it. Had it been built, it would have cost a large amount to correct the problems. Can we say millions? Mr. Baillio did not mention that his real estate office is presently the headquarters of Mr. Calkins' campaign. But, he did get one thing right. I did not return his phone call. However, I did one better; I talked to him in person in his office. Why would he still be waiting for me to call?
As mayor I always maintained an open-door policy and if the citizens of Edgewood see fit to elect me once again, that policy will continue.
