Protest Alcohol, Not War in Iraq
WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, over 4,000 of our troops have died in Iraq, almost 1,000 per year and thousands more wounded. Thousands of people protest this carnage and the news media plays it up to the hilt. The religious cult that organized the anti-Vietnam war protest also worked hard to organize the protest for this war. It's a power thing.
I typed into my computer, “Alcohol Related Deaths in the USA” and found that in the year 2001 an estimated 75,000 people in the USA died from drinking alcohol. Alcoholic liver disease killed 12,201 and motor car crashes killed 13,673 people. The rest died from diseases like gall bladder problems. If 75,000 deaths per year is normal, then in five years, that's 375,000 Americans killed by alcohol consumption, compared to 4,000 killed in the Iraq war.
The war is expensive, it cost the American people billions of dollars every year, so let's look at the health care cost of consuming alcohol. The total cost of alcohol problems in the USA is $175 billion per year, and this does not include property damage. This is $875 billion in five years. Compare that to the cost of the war in Iraq. Add property damage to the health care cost, and you are talking about real money.
So why is it that people don't protest against alcohol consumption? Well, I am sure that most of the protesters drink this drug, solvent, fuel or whatever you want to call it. Plus, you will never hear an alcoholic priest preach against booze.
Well now, if you want to protest against something that kills more people and creates more misery than all the wars ..., why not protest against the drug, solvent, fuel, called alcohol?
Don't drink this stuff, put it in your gas tank.

    Funding Events Is Clearly Illegal
SOME PEOPLE STILL DON'T GET IT! The Edgewood mayor and council all took an oath to uphold the law when they were sworn into office. Mr. Rael, the town's attorney, has now informed the mayor and council that the town cannot give money to Wildlife West events or events of other organizations; it violates the law. The mayor and council are obligated to make sure that taxpayer money is spent according to the law. There are a few people who aren't willing to accept the law, straight from the New Mexico Constitution which was read by Mr. Rael to the audience at the special budget meeting.
A few people still continue to write letter after letter imploring the town to fund their friends' projects. Maybe they need to hear it from another source. I suggest that they deliver their request for money from Edgewood's budget to the New Mexico Attorney General and ask for an opinion from that office. This isn't about politics; it's about whether or not the town of Edgewood intends to obey the law. Webster's dictionary defines the word “illegal” as “forbidden by law or statute.”
What part of illegal isn't clear?

Plant Food So The Bears Can Survive
INSTEAD OF TRYING EVERY YEAR TO KEEP THE BEARS OUT OF OUR COMMUNITIES, why don't we just solve the source of the problem, not enough food f ..., once and for all.
What I think should be done is to plant and maintain fruit trees ... out away from civilization. They could still forage for their own food.
Hunger is very painful as anybody who's fasted would know. Bears have been known to chew through wooden walls to get to food. So I think we should helps them.
If we can create computers capable of a million billion calculations per second, then surely we're smart enough to outsmart the bears and feed them without making them dependent on us.
If we can afford to throw away hundreds of billions of dollars over in Iraq, surely we could have a program to keep bears in our state from starving and coming into our communities.
