Folks Around Here Ready To Help Out

It is sometimes easy to forget the good that goes on in a community, especially when good deeds continue long after past deeds have been acknowledged.
Walkin N Circles Ranch has long been known for its work with abandoned and abused equines. Colleen Novotny, the ranch's founder, has been recognized by the Telegraph in the past as a “community asset.”
But after the attention was focused away from the rescue ranch and Novotny, the work continued.
Last week, the ranch took in a foal taken from a Torrance County property. A sheriff's deputy saw the young horse that had most likely been attacked by stray dogs in a field and immediately called Novotny. A veterinarian determined that the horse was so young that it had not even had an opportunity to suckle from its mother.
Novotny has been spending long hours caring for the foal, feeding it by bottle and putting up with the nips a young horse usually reserves for its mother.
It's a nice reminder that people throughout the Estancia Valley and East Mountains are committed to helping the less fortunate, even if its a horse.
