Obituaries - Sept. 28, 2006


    DONALD FLEMING
    Donald Fleming, 72, of Moriarty passed away Sept. 21 in Albuquerque with his loving family beside him.
    Donald was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Rensselaer, Ind., to Gaylord and Francis (Payne) Fleming.
    He is survived by his wife, Sharon Fleming of Moriarty; sons, Jim and wife JoAnn Fleming of Utah, Greg and wife Theresa Fleming of Colorado, Fred and wife Chandra Martin of Moriarty, Vince and wife Audra Martin of Lousiana; daughters, Valerie Mills of Utah, Cindi McGee of Utah, Lisa and husband Jimmie O'Shields of Idaho, Dixie Martin and Josh Smith of Moriarty; brothers, Jack Fleming, Larry Fleming and Jerry Fleming, all of Idaho; sister, Carol and husband Jean Yoder of Idaho; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
    A memorial service was held Monday at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Moriarty with David Terry officiating.
    Arrangements for cremation entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Moriarty.
    PETE SCHULTZ
    Pete Schultz, 84, of Socorro passed away Sept. 20 at his home in Socorro.
    Pete was born Jan. 26, 1922, to August and Wanda (Lowe) Schultz in Cimerron, Kan. Pete was a member of the Socorro Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
    Pete is survived by one brother, Wayne Schultz of Albuquerque; three sisters, Viola Solomon of Estancia, Wanda Morris and husband Ray of Estancia, and Amelia Shield and husband Bob of Moriarty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Pete will be remembered as a loving brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
    Funeral services were held Monday at the Estancia Church of Christ with Rev. Edward Johnson officiating. Burial followed at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery.

    SARA LOU JARAMILLO
    Sara Lou Jaramillo, 45, of Willard passed away Sept. 21 in Willard.
    She was born Nov. 26, 1960, to Kenneth and Flora (Blea) Reynolds in Kansas City, Mo. Sara was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard.
    Sara is survived by her husband, Alfredo Samuel Jaramillo Jr. of Willard; two daughters, Elizabeth Marie Jaramillo of Albuquerque and Rebecca Linda Jaramillo of Willard; her mother, Flora Maria and husband Wavell Herndon of Kansas City; two brothers, Glen E. Reynolds and Kenneth R. Reynolds Jr.; two sisters, Margaret R. Villarreal and Debra M. Reynolds; three grandchildren, Jacob Jaramillo, Gabriel Jaramillo and Kiara Sonaya Wilcox; and numerous aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews.
    Sara was preceded in death by her son, Alfredo Adam Jaramillo III; her father, Kenneth Reynolds; and one sister, Christina Mae Hearld.
    Sara Lou will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
    A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Willard with Father Vincent Nicosia officiating. Burial followed at the Estancia Memorial Cemetery.
    Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Mountainair.
    MANUELITA HERRERA
    Manuelita Herrera, 91, of Manzano passed away Sept. 22 at the home of daughter Gloria and husband Eppy Paez in Mountainair. She was surrounded by her loving family.
    She was born in La Cienega, N.M. in 1915 and attended Mountainair High School. She met and married Antonio Herrera in 1933. Together they had 12 children. She was a member of Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Church in Manzano, where she and her husband were mayordomos of the church three times and she also was a member of the Altar Society.
    She is survived by a brother, Pedro and wife Dolores Griego of Albuquerque; sisters, Fedelina Garcia of Willard, Virgina Aragon, Carman Thompson and Mary Griego, all of Albuquerque; sons, Ignacio and wife Francis Herrera of Albuquerque, Eddy Herrera of Estancia, Arturo Herrera, Leroy Herrera and Ruth Ann Nelson of Manzano; daughters, Tillie Herrera Brummell of Mountainair, Isabel and husband Carlos Sanchez of Albuquerque, Diana and husband Mike Apodaca of San Bernardino, Calif., Cecilia and husband Arturo E. Sanchez of Bend, Ore., Gloria and husband Eppy Paez of Mountainair; grandson, Daniel Herrera Brummell, that she helped raise for six years. She loved her 2-year-old great-granddaughter Zoey Joe Brazil, who would come into her room every morning and say, Good Morning Little Grandma, I love you.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Antonio Herrera; three sons, Roberto, Antonio Jr. and Augustine Herrera; parents Maria and Salvador Griego; a brother, Sisto Griego; a sister, Adela Chavez; and a daughter-in-law, Loyola Herrera.
    She was a wonderful grandmother and loved all her 31 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
    A rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church of Manzano. Mass will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows with Father Stone officiating.
