    Fall Sale Starts
    Today at Bethel
The Bethel Community Storehouse thrift store in Moriarty is hosting its Fall Sale today through Saturday.
All clothing, shoes and accessories will be half off.
All proceeds benefit the storehouse's programs to assist families and individuals in need.

    Jog-A-Thon Aids
    A. Montoya School
    A. Montoya Elementary will hold a Jog-A-Thon on Friday, the schools' biggest fundraiser.
The event is a healthy alternative to the catalog sales that are usually held, according to school officials.
The Jog-A-Thon will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the school. A parade will kick off the Jog-A-Thon at 8:30 a.m. A special guest— Orbit, the Albuquerque Isotopes mascot— will be the parade Grand Marshal.
The money raised in the Jog-A-Thon will go toward funding programs such as buses for field trips, the Giving Tree, scholarships for students and teacher supplies. These are just a few of the programs that will benefit, according to school officials, who added that all donations are tax-deductible and stay in the community.
To make a donation or sponsor a student, call 281-1290 ext. 3.
    'Murder' Auditions
    At EMHS Friday
Make-up auditions and callbacks for the East Mountain Community Theatre's murder mystery musical, "Murder on the Salty Dog," will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the East Mountain High School commons building.
The play's producers are seeking strong actors who can sing on pitch and sell a song.
Roles are available for four men in their 20s to 50s (one with a Cockney dialect, another with Russian dialect) and three women in their 20s to 50s (one French dialect, one Italian dialect).
Actors auditioning should be prepared to sing excerpts of a ballad and an uptempo song.
    For more information, call 286-1683.
    Clinics for Vets
    Free on 1st Fridays
Morgan Oriental Medicine in Edgewood is offering a free clinic for all U.S. military veterans on the first Friday of every month.
The next "First Fridays for Veterans" is scheduled for this Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can be very helpful for the treatment of pain, and has also shown to be helpful for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder," said Ann Morgan. "I wanted to do something for our armed forces veterans who have given so much to our country."
Morgan said that, according to the World Health Organization, acupuncture can be helpful in treating respiratory disorders like asthma and bronchitis, eye disorders, orthopedic disorders like arthritis and low back pain, gastrointestinal disorders, and neurological disorders like migraine and bladder dysfunction.
To schedule an appointment for "First Fridays for Veterans," call Morgan at 281-9555.

To donate items or for more information, call 249-1580 or 610-0153.
    Next Stargazing
    Set for Saturday
The Albuquerque Astronomical Society and the Sandia Ranger District will co-host an evening of free public stargazing in the Manzano Mountains on Saturday at Oak Flat Picnic Area.
The dark skies of the East Mountains and the large telescopes of TAAS astronomers together provide great views of planets, as well as more elusive deep-sky objects such as galaxies, nebulae and star clusters.
Observing begins at sunset, weather permitting, and is suitable for all ages. Picnic facilities are available for those who would like to come early and adjacent parking is available. Alcoholic beverages and pets are not allowed in the telescope viewing area.
To get there, take N.M. 337 nine miles south of the Tijeras exit on I-40 and follow the signs to Oak Flat and Juniper Loop.
For information and a map, visit www.taas.org or call 254-TAAS.
