'Recycle-Man' To
Play at Library
Family Time at the Moriarty Community Library will present "Recycle-Man" today.
"Recycle-Man" will conduct a "Drum Fest" where he gets people to help play his "recyclemachine" and hundreds of other junk items as well as real instruments.
The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. at City Park in Moriarty. All are welcome, and the event is free.
Wildfest 2007
Set for Saturday
Wildfest 2007, sponsored by Talking Talons Youth Leadership and the Youth Conservation Corps, is scheduled for Saturday.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Roosevelt Middle School in Tijeras.
Visitors will learn about environmental, animal rescue and alternative energy groups while being introduced to Talking Talons' many rescued hawks, falcons, owls, bats and reptiles.
Wildfest will also feature wolf pups, goats, ponies, tropical animals, a classic car show, magicians, a $100 prize for the Cute Pet Photo Contest, musicians, clowns and inflatable jumpers.
Food will be served by Smoking Pig. Free water quality testing also will be available.

4-H Dinner, Pie
Auction Saturday
The Torrance County 4-H Council's annual spaghetti dinner and pie auction will be held Saturday.
Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the pie auction begins at 7 p.m. at the Torrance County Fairgrounds in Estancia.

Blood Drive At
Tijeras Church
Another community blood drive will be held at the First Baptist Church of Tijeras on Saturday.
The United Blood Services bloodmobile will be at the church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. Donors can schedule themselves at www.unitedbloodservices.org or call PJ Baker at 281-3709.

Underage Drinking
A workshop scheduled for Saturday will inform areas residents about how underage drinking affects them and the community as a whole.
The workshop will start at 9 a.m. at the Torrance County Courthouse. It is sponsored by the Torrance County DWI Program.

Two Are Showing
Jewelry Saturday
Carey McDonald will show her unique beaded jewelry and Rich Ragle will exhibit his bronze/silver sculptures as well as turquoise and gemstone jewelry on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Turquoise Trail Gallery in Cedar Crest.
A 10 percent discount will be offered on most items, and refreshments will be served.

Night Is Sunday
The ALCO store in Moriarty will host its annual Friends and Family Night on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Moriarty Desperados 4-H Club will perform demonstrations in roping and leather craft. Games and refreshments are also scheduled.
Learn To Create
Pueblo Pottery
The Sandia Ranger District will host a pottery-making workshop on Saturday and Sunday.
Michael Kanteena of Laguna Pueblo will offer the hands-on workshop, teaching the techniques for making Pueblo-style pottery.
The fee for the two-day workshop is $50 and participants must be able to attend both days. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

Glass Artist At
Market on Saturday
Lindsay Ferreira of Dancing Sun Glass Studio, which recently moved to Sandia Park, will be at the Tijeras Open Air Market on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ferreira works in hot glass and is currently working on large glass "medicine Shields" inspired by ancient Native American shield designs. She is collaborating with two local metalsmiths.
