Living History

By

New Mexico's past, present and future came alive at Route 66 Elementary School last week.
Fourth grade marks the time when students are first introduced to New Mexico history, but five years ago teacher Kathy Childress started having her classes share a little of what they learned with the rest of the school with a living wax museum.
This year, however, was the first time all of the school's fourth-graders participated in the wax museum. And what started as a look at the state's past, this year included presentations from the present and future, as well.
Students dressed as famous New Mexicans, such as William Hanna, Conrad Hilton, Jim White, Billy the Kid and Pete Domenici, and gave short presentations to the rest of the school.
