Drilling Topic
Of Open House
The state Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department will host an open house allowing the public to ask questions and make comments to representatives of various state agencies regarding proposed oil and gas drilling in the Galisteo Basin area of Santa Fe County.
The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on March 29, 2008, at the Santa Fe Community College at 6401 Richards Avenue, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
EMHS Debaters
Take 2nd Place
The East Mountain High School Speech and Debate Team recently took second place in the small school division at the New Mexico State Tournament at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.
Elora Overbey, Tim Bedeaux, Toby Merkle, Erin Bush, Andrew Krause, and Josh Talamante all competed at the tournament and had winning records. Krause was a quarterfinalist in Lincoln Douglas Debate and Talamante took third place overall in Lincoln Douglas Debate.
Author Releases
His First Book
Ben Steinlage of Mountainair has released his first book, a Western historical fiction novel entitled "Want to Go West, Lady?"
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, Steinlage's book tells the story of three teenagers who experience the Civil War, the Reconstruction of the South and the beginning of the 20th century in California and Oregon. They mature into young adults as they learn about life and love in the midst of some of America's richest historical moments.
