Ongoing Programs
Moriarty Schools
Offer Screenings
The Moriarty Municipal Schools district provides free developmental screenings for children ages 2 through 5.
The screenings look at how children are thinking, walking, talking, learning, hearing, seeing and getting along with others. The results will let parents know their children's strengths and potential needs.
The Moriarty school district also offers preschool classes and services for 3- and 4-year-olds with special needs based on screening results.
For information on screenings or to refer a child for screening, call 832-5816.
Cariño Program
Helps Families
The YWCA's Cariño program offers library checkout of children's toys, books, videos and other learning resources at two area outlets each month.
The program features items for children from infancy through school age, as well as resources to help with parenting and other family issues.
The Cariño program is at the Moriarty Community Library from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and at Mountainair Elementary School from noon to 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month.
The program is available to anyone 18 or older.
Cariño offers referrals to help families find child care, as well as training for parents and child-care professionals and on-site assistance and support.
For more information, call Monique Angon at 254-9922 ext. 113.
