      Estancia Hosts Free Fireworks
The Town of Estancia will host a free fireworks display in Arthur Park on the evening of July 4. The pool concession stand will sell hot dogs, nachos, cokes and chips — but no free food as in the past.
The trolley will tentatively run on Friday. There are plans for a volleyball tournament. If any food vendors are interested in selling at the event or for more information on any of the above, contact the town at 384-2709.

Jubilee Events Held on July 5
The Mountainair Firecracker Jubilee will be held this year on July 5.
Events start at 7 a.m. with the Mountainair Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast. The Jubilee Parade will be held starting at 10 a.m.
Other events include a horseshoe tournament, pet show, vendors and music at the Mountainair Activity Center. A barbecue lunch will be sponsored by the Mountainair Fire Department.
Fireworks are scheduled for dusk at the Mountainair Airport and a dance will be held afterward from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Robert J. Saul Community Center. Cost for the dance is $6 for singles and $10 for couples.
Those interested in having a float in the parade can contact Abbie or Jodie after 5 p.m. at 847-2997.

Public Is Invited To PRC Hearing
The Public Regulation Commission will hold a public hearing regarding Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative Advice Notice 54 and Rate 25 at the Moriarty Civic Center on July 9 at 4 p.m.
The commissioners will also listen to feedback on CNME's request for approval of continued use of its fuel and purchased power cost adjustment clause.
“We'll be there until everyone has an opportunity” to speak, said Paul Carbajal, public information officer for the PRC.
Public comments from the upcoming July hearing and from a previous March 19 hearing in Moriarty attended by more than 200 people will be taken into consideration when the commission makes a decision, Carbajal said.
Because so many people showed up at the March hearing, PRC District 2 Commissioner David King promised to hold another hearing in Moriarty at a larger venue, Carbajal said.
On July 15 at 10 a.m. the PRC will hold a more formal proceeding in the investigation of CNME in Marian Hall, 224 East Palace, Santa Fe. During that hearing the public will not be allowed to comment.

Mountainair Blood Drive Held July 9

The drive will be held at the community center gymnasium at 107 North Roosevelt from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For more information, contact Susan Brazil at 847-2321.
