Jordan Key of Troop 166, Sandia District of the Great Southwest Council, has earned the highest achievement that Boy Scouts offers, the Eagle Scout Award.
Key's Eagle Scout project included trail maintenance on the Tres Pistolas Trail in Tijeras in conjunction with the Sandia Ranger District. The process included the construction of check dams for erosion control as well as repairing the boundary fence.
Key was a member of Pack 990 at Sunset Mesa Schools where he earned the Arrow of Light award before joining Troop 166. He earned 22 merit badges and was inducted as a member of the Mescalero Chapter of the Order of Arrow. Key attended Camp Tomahawk in Utah, Emerald Bay on Catalina Island in California, Brownsea at Camp Frank Rand, Florida Sea Base, Philmont Scout Ranch, and the National Scout Jamboree in Virginia. He will be participating in the Boundary Waters High Adventure Camp in Canada next summer.
Key will be a junior at Albuquerque Academy in the fall where he is a member of the varsity tennis team.
