      Zoo To You Comes To Civic Center
Zoo To You will be coming to the Moriarty Community Library on July 31 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Moriarty Civic Center.
    Zoo To You is an indoor education program of biofacts, a slide presentation and hands-on educational zoo animals. This program is free to the public and is sponsored by the Albuquerque Biological Park, Rio Grande Zoo Education, Phelps Dodge Mining Co. and Wells Fargo Bank.

    Dinner To Benefit Political Forum
To fund a political forum before Torrance County's November 2008 general election, Concerned Citizens Inc. and Los Ranchos Grandes y Encantados Property Owners Association are holding an Italian dinner and silent auction Aug. 9 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the McIntosh Community Center.
    The dinner includes a dessert and iced tea or coffee and music by La Rondalla de Albuquerque. Tickets are $10 per person or $5 for children 10 and under.

    Learn Geocaching At Sandia Center
The Sandia Mountain Natural History Center will open its doors to the public on Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer visitors more than 5 miles of trails, picnicking, geocaching, two hands-on exhibit rooms, and a wildlife observation deck.
    An orienteering course will teach you the proper way to navigate the wilderness using map and compass from 10 to 11 a.m.

    Fire Making Demo At Tijeras Pueblo
The Sandia Ranger District's "Sunday Afternoon at Tijeras Pueblo" will continue on Aug. 9 with a fire making demonstration.
    Participants will learn traditional techniques for making fire led by Sean Gantt. Participants will learn the bow drill method for building a fire.
    The demonstration will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.
   
    Udall Will Visit Edgewood School
Rep. Tom Udall, D-N.M., plans to be at Edgewood Elementary School on Aug. 19 from noon to 2 p.m, according to an announcement made at the Edgewood Town Council meeting June 16 by Sarah Silverstein, one of Udall's campaign representatives.
    She said that Udall, a candidate for United States Senate, may be accompanied by a few other Democrats: Martin Heinrich, a candidate for 1st Congressional District, and Ben Ray Luján, a candidate for the 3rd Congressional District. Brian Colón, chairman of the New Mexico Democratic Party, is also invited, and a campaign representative for Barack Obama's may also make an appearance, Silverstein said.
   
    Torrance 4-H Fair BBQ on Aug. 16
The Torrance County 4-H Fair BBQ will be held Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Estancia School Cafeteria.
