State Fair Needs Anthem Singers

Telegraph staff report
Auditions to sing the national anthem during the New Mexico State Fair will be held Aug. 7.
Auditions will be held in the auditorium of the new African American Performing Arts Center just inside Gate 3 at Expo New Mexico — the Fairgrounds — from 9 a.m. to noon. The auditions are open primarily to solo performers or small groups who can sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" a cappella.
A committee of judges will select the winners, who will each sing the national anthem at the eight rodeo concerts during this year's fair. The 70th annual New Mexico State Fair starts Sept. 5 and runs through Sept. 21.
To reserve an audition, please call Linda Quintero-Dow in the Expo New Mexico Events Office at 222-9725 no later than Aug. 5.
