Official To Reopen His Tattoo Business

By Laura Nesbitt
Mountain View Telegraph
Arthur Faust, director of Torrance County planning and zoning, has a part-time job.
Faust has been tattooing various areas on multiple human bodies for the past four years either as an apprentice or in an outbuilding on his property. And he wants permission from Moriarty Planning and Zoning to re-open his tattoo parlor, Diabolical Ink, possibly as soon as this fall.
Faust closed his Moriarty business last year because of landlord problems, he said.
He has been painting, remodeling and "putting up walls" at the new space located near Eunice Street and Central in Moriarty.
There's a lot of misinformation about tattooing that he hopes to change with his business.
"Scratchers" are people with homemade tattoo machines who "ink" people on the living room couch, giving the tattoo business a bad name, he said.
Diabolical Ink will be licensed by the Occupational Health and Safety Bureau, a state regulatory agency that is part of the New Mexico Environment Department, Faust said. He also said he plans to meet all federal, state and city compliances.
