          Moriarty Luncheon Moved to Friday
The Moriarty Chamber of Commerce Shop at Home Luncheon has been rescheduled for Friday.
Snow forced the cancelation of the event on Tuesday.
The luncheon will be held at noon at the Moriarty Civic Center.
Winners of the chamber's Shop at Home contest will be chosen. The event is a potluck, so remember to bring your favorite dish.
For more information, call the chamber at 832-4087.
        Event Will Benefit Sanctuary Zone
The third annual benefit for The Sanctuary Zone will be held Saturday at the Ponderosa from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event will include Christmas carols, singalongs, food and entertainment.
All proceeds will benefit The Sanctuary Zone, Torrance County's domestic violence shelter.
The Ponderosa is on N.M. 337 south of Tijeras.
        Storehouse Plans Store for Children
Bethel Community Storehouse plans to turn its back room into a store for children to shop for presents on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., said director Linda Smith.
The gifts, which are new, have been collected all through the year by Bethel volunteers and will be sold very cheaply, Smith said.
"Years and years ago some volunteers came up with the idea of children's shopping," Smith said.
Santa Claus will be there from 1 to 3 p.m., and there will be carolling and refreshments.
Santa Claus Will Visit at Lions Club
The Moriarty Lions Club is hosting a visit from Santa Claus on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Children in the fourth grade and younger will receive a gift from Santa, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The club is at 515 Lions Court in Moriarty, which is off Old Route 66 behind JR's Tires.
Mountainair Hosts Toys for Tots Event
Mountainair residents are invited to bring their children to a Toys for Tots giveaway at the Dr. Saul Community Building on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., said Police Chief Edward vonKutzleben.
The town is only inviting residents because they want to make sure every child gets a toy. Toys will be given away "as long as they hold out," the chief said.
Santa Claus will tentatively show up on a firetruck and there will be refreshments.
This is the town's second year of giving toys to children through the program, the chief said.
        Church, Comedor Offer Free Dinner
The First Baptist Church of Moriarty and El Comedor are offering a free Christmas dinner for Estancia Valley residents on Christmas Eve.
Because of the limited number of tables, there will be two seatings, one at 4:30 p.m. and another at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are needed for the dinner. Once all the tickets are gone, there will be no more reservations.
To get tickets, call the church at 832-6385.
