      Town To Celebrate Refinished Courts
The town of Edgewood will be celebrating the opening of its refurbished basketball courts behind the community center today at 4:30 p.m.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and basketball challenge match will be held. The challenge will pit teams from the Edgewood Chamber of Commerce against the town staff.
Donations also will be accepted to benefit the Edgewood Community Library.
Before the game, at 3 p.m., certificates will be handed out for the town's Y.E.S. (Youth Events for Summer) Program at South Mountain Elementary. Edgewood Mayor Robert Stearley and Santa Fe County Commissioner Mike Anaya will be on hand for the event.

PRC Hearing On Indian Hills Friday
The Public Regulation Commission will hold a public hearing regarding Indian Hills Water Co. on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Edgewood Soil and Conservation District Office, 2506 Route 66, in Moriarty.
According to a PRC news release, many Indian Hills customers have been experiencing water outages and insufficient water pressure since early June.
"We have had a number of complaints for some time regarding Indian Hills. It appears that there could be a number of potential violations of commission rules and state law in this particular case," PRC District 2 Commissioner David King said.
Because of public interest, commission staff will be attending the meeting to help explain PRC procedure for processing these types of cases, the news release states.
For more information, call the PRC public information office at 827-4446 or by cell phone at 699-7991.

Listen to ShinDig At Los Vecinos
The East Mountain Summer Concert Series continues at Los Vecinos Community Center on Friday with ShinDig, a band that plays a variety of music.
There will be six free outdoor concerts in all, each featuring a different local band playing country, alternative, rock and Spanish music along with a few other styles. Concerts will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, as well as on July 25.
There will be food vendors on site, and the events are family friendly with no alcohol allowed. Bags may be checked. Parking is at A. Montoya Elementary School, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic lunches.
For more information, call Jason Martinez at 314-0240.

    Flea Market To Benefit Festival
A flea market will be held on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Liberty Development, next to the old Radio Shack building on Route 66.
Proceeds from the event will go toward paying for the Edgewood Music Festival, to be held the first weekend in August at Wildlife West Nature Park.
Flea market organizers are looking for donation of items for sale, or you can rent a table to sell your own items.
For more information, contact Jim Smith at 934-1075.
In addition, several local businesses, including The Furniture Connection and Banjo Bob, have donated valuable raffle items. Contact Roger Alink at Wildlife West at 281-7655 for a complete listing.

    Saturday Is Kids Archaeology Day
The Sandia Ranger District will be holding a Children's Archaeology Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is open to children ages 9 to 14. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch and plenty of water. Make sure to wear old clothes, a hat and sunscreen for the event.
Participants will have activities at the Tijeras Pueblo Archaeological Site and a field trip to Wildlife West Nature Park.

Falcon Flight Show At Wildlife West
The first in a series of falcon flight shows starts Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Wildlife West Nature Park in Edgewood. The shows feature a pair of peregrine falcons in free flight and are free with regular admission to the park.
Tom Smylie, who puts on the shows, has more than 40 years of experience with raptors. A peregrine falcon — the fastest animal on Earth, according to a news release from Wildlife West — will be on display but will not be flying due to a wing injury.
Flights will be on Sundays through Sept. 28. For more information, call Wildlife West at 281-7655 or visit www.wildlifewest.org.

ABATE Has Annual School Supply Run
