      Fire Postpones GOP Convention
       Because of the Trigo Fire, the Torrance County Republican Party has rescheduled its 2008 quadrennial county convention for May 12.
       All registered Republicans are encouraged to attend the convention, which will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Torrance County Courthouse in Estancia.

       Lecture To Cover New Deal, Art
       The Friends of the Tijeras Pueblo monthly lecture series continues Tuesday with a presentation by J.J. Brody titled “The New Deal and Indian Art: A Tale of ‘Innocent' Arrogance.”
       Brody is a professor emeritus of art and art history at the University of New Mexico and former director of UNM's Maxwell Museum.
       His lecture will cover the programs with the New Deal, specifically a time in the 1930s when ancient art was documented with the kiva murals at the Kuana pueblo village in Bernalillo.
       The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. at the Sandia Ranger Station in Tijeras.
       It is free to the public.
       'Narnia' Movie Events Planned
       The movie “Narnia: Prince Caspian” will open May 16 at the United Artists High Ridge movie theater, with fun and games to mark the arrival of the second installment in the “Chronicles of Narnia” series.
       There will be displays from the Rio Grande Zoo and Albuquerque library system. A medieval group will be staging performances in the parking lot.
       The High Ridge theater is on Indian School at Tramway in Albuquerque.
      
       Seminar About Wills, Decisions
       “Advanced Directives: A Living Will is Not Enough” will be the topic of a community seminar at Holy Cross Episcopal Church at 7 p.m. May 18.
       The presenter of the seminar will be Constance Roy, who has worked as an intensive care nurse for the University of New Mexico Hospital for 20 years.
       Roy will cover topics such as guidance on medical decision documents and surrogate decision makers.
       Holy Cross is 3½ miles north of Interstate 40 on N.M. 344 at Hill Ranch Road in Edgewood. The seminar is free and open to the public.
