EMHS Eliminates Tennis Program

East Mountain High's coed small-team tennis program has been terminated, according to a new release from David Naylor, the school's athletic director.

The Timberwolves had 12 prospective players show up for the season kickoff meeting, but only three reported for the first practice last month, coach Karen Schaffner said.

EMHS, during its inaugural season in 2009, finished with a coed record of 0-3. Separately, the boys were 0-4 and the girls were 0-2.

The coed T'Wolves lost in the first round of the state small-team tournament last year.

"I don't know if it's because we've had really bad weather or what," Schaffner said. "I called everybody and there was a variety of reasons why they said they couldn't do it."
