The 5-foot-8 senior wrestler defeated Jeremy Valdez of Las Vegas Robertson with a 13-8 decision in the championship round to earn the 130-pound title at the 10-team Sam C'de Baca Memorial Tournament Saturday on the Monarchs' home mat. O'Neil, who said he now has a record of about 25-3, pinned all his opponents in the competition's earlier rounds.

Brian, who lives in Cedar Crest, is the son of Tom and Martha O'Neil.
