The Moriarty FFA Chapter did very well at the 2010 District 8 Leadership Competition on Feb. 10. Alyssa Hackett, Amanda Ball and Kolene Winn placed second, third and fourth respectively in the job interview competition. For this contest students prepare a portfolio and résumé to interview for a hypothetical job opportunity.
In Greenhand prepared public speaking, Moriarty students swept the podium. Arianna Jaquez placed first, Ashlyn Calamia was second, Melissa Burson was third and Brianna Crow finished fourth. Ball and Megan Mouser placed second and third in the extemporaneous public speaking event, where students prepare a hundred-page binder of agricultural topics. After choosing a random topic, they are given 30 minutes to prepare a four- to six-minute speech. And Hackett and Ashli Safford won first and second place in the chapter prepared public speaking competition. Each member wrote a six- to eight-minute speech on a chosen agricultural topic, followed by five minutes of follow-up questions. |
