Moriarty's two truck stops, motels and fast food joints had plenty of customers last Thursday morning when a winter storm came through and dumped anywhere from 8 inches to a foot of snow in the East Mountains and Estancia Valley and points east.
Road conditions became so poor that eastbound Interstate 40 was closed Thursday night, causing semi-trucks to line Old Route 66 in Moriarty. Area schools were closed for two days. Another storm hit the area Wednesday morning and was expected to clear out by today. |
