Lopez is the current two- term Torrance County Republican Party chairman. He is also chairman of the Advisory Board for the Sanctuary Zone Domestic Violence Shelter and recently appointed to the East Torrance Soil and Water Conservation Board of Supervisors.

Lopez is the former Mayor of the Village of Willard and a former Federal Agent with the Defense Investigative Service, served honorably in the United States Army and is a Desert Storm Veteran.

Among his qualification, Lopez said he holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice, an associate of science degree in police science and an associate of science degree in legal studies.
